Cocoa Police Chief Administers Police Officer’s Oath for New Officer James Anderson

Officer Anderson served in U.S. Army from 2011-2014, followed by four more years as a reservist

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa Police Chief Evander Collier IV administered the Police Officer’s Oath Wednesday afternoon to the agency’s newest police officer.

Officer James Anderson was sworn in during a special ceremony attended by his family and department personnel.

Officer Anderson is originally from New Jersey.

There, he worked as a police officer for four years. Anderson served in the U.S. Army from 2011-2014 followed by four more years as a reservist. He is the oldest of five and moved to Florida two years ago.

Anderson recently completed his equivalency of training at Eastern Florida State College in order to become a certified law enforcement officer in the State of Florida. He will spend the next several months in training where he will learn the department’s policies and procedures. He will be paired with a field training officer and learn all facets of the job.

Upon successful completion of the training, Officer Anderson will be assigned to a squad for patrol duties.
