Light the Darkness 5K Cocoa Beach Set Today in Cocoa Beach, Will Benefit Human Trafficking Victims

The inaugural Light the Darkness 5K race is set Jan. 27 and will start at 3:45 p.m. at Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront, located at 1550 N. Atlantic Avenue in Cocoa Beach. This Light the Darkness 5K will bring awareness to human trafficking and all proceeds will benefit the prevention, identification, rehabilitation and support of survivors of those who have been sexually exploited.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – The inaugural Light the Darkness 5K race is set Jan. 27 and will start at 3:45 p.m. at Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront, located at 1550 N. Atlantic Avenue in Cocoa Beach. 

The Light the Darkness 5K will bring awareness to human trafficking and all proceeds will benefit the prevention, identification, rehabilitation and support of survivors of those who have been sexually exploited.

This is an evening out-and-back beach race that will start on the beach in front of the Hilton Cocoa Beach Ocean Front and head lamps, neon and lighted apparel and accessories are encouraged. There will be a prize for the runner with the best glow lights.

Make sure to join in for the Official Get Outdoors for Freedom After Party at Hilton’s Longboards Tiki Beach Grille starting at 6 p.m.

An E-Bike Raffle will be held, donated by A1A Outdoors Beachside Bike Shop, with additional raffle items as well.

This is the official launch of the Get Outdoors for Freedom Spring & Summer Series. If you love the outdoors and want to contribute to the solution in ending human trafficking, you can walk, run, paddle or hike….all for the freedom of others.

Guest speaker Laura Esquivel of Atlas Free will be attending along with human trafficking survivor Misty McClary.

SCHEDULE FOR RACE DAY

1/27 – Ssturday at Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront, 1550 N. ATLANTIC AVE., Cocoa Beach, Fl 32931
3:45 PM – Race Day Registration & Packet Pickup Opens
5:15 PM – Race Day Registration & Packet Pickup Closes

5:30 PM – 5K Starts.
6:00 PM – After Party Begins! Music, Beverages, Raffle Giveaways and doorprizes (food optional)

AWARDS:

All finishers will receive a finisher medal. However, finisher medals are not guaranteed after the first 250 registered participants. No age group or team awards. Prize awarded for best lighted!

Awards in addition to medals to: 1st, 2nd, 3rd overall male and female, master male and female.

Fees:
$25 (Before 1/19), $40 to include appetizers at After Party
$30 (1/20-1/26)
 No appetizers

$35 (Race Day)

Participants who register and participate in all three LOCAL event Series will be awarded a series award.
