Military Officers Association Recognizes Retired Col. Steve Bond with Distinguished Service Award

BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – The Military Officers Association of America, Cape Canaveral Chapter, recently held its annual Installation Banquet at the Indian River Colony Club in Viera.
At the banquet, chapter members gathered to install the incoming officers and directors for 2024 and also recognized the 2023 recipient of its highest award, the Distinguished Service Award, which went to Col. Steve Bond, who was awarded the chapter’s prestigious Eagle trophy and medallion, in recognition of his service.
Bond is a retired U.S. Army Colonel and a 29-year veteran.
He served first as an Infantry Officer and then as a Military Intelligence Officer. After he retired from the Army, he worked in the defense industry and then served as a U.S. Government Senior Executive, and Transition Team Director in Iraq from 2008 to 2009.
In keeping with MOAA’s motto of “Never Stop Serving,” he has worked in a variety of positions, including as the Cape Canaveral Chapter President; Army Liaison, Chairman of the Speakers Bureau and editor and writer of the Chapter’s bi-monthly electronic newsletter.
Bond is also a member of the Veteran’s Back to Class Program and others. Steve currently serves as the Senior Vice President of the Military Officers Association of America Florida Council.
The Cape Canaveral Chapter is one of MOAA’s largest chapters with over 1,000 members centered on Florida’s Space Coast.
The organization advocates for the earned benefits of all veterans and their families and conducts philanthropy and community service on behalf of the serving military and veteran community.
