Titusville Fire Dept. Recognizes Ron Smith Jr., Kyle George as December 2023 Employees of the Month

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Titusville Fire Department would like to recognize Firefighter/Paramedic Ron Smith, Jr. & Firefighter/Paramedic Kyle George has our December 2023 Employees of the Month.
The nomination reads as follows:
On December 4, 2023, they were dispatched on SQD-13 to Domino’s Pizza for a 90 y/o lady who had purchased pizza to take home to her husband but slipped and fell while leaving the building.
Due to the patient’s injuries, there was a need for her to be taken to the hospital. However, her husband was at home waiting for her. She was concerned that her 93-year-old husband, whom she was the primary care giver, would go without dinner.
For this reason, she was willing to refuse transport to the hospital. Out of concern for the patient, and her need for medical attention, Firefighters George and Smith offered to deliver the pizza to her husband at home, allowing her to receive the medical attention she needed.
They did just that, and explained to the husband what had occurred with his wife and that she was taken to the hospital. They also communicated the situation with a neighbor who reassured them that he would continue to look after the husband while his wife was away.
They understood that this patient not only needed medical attention, but also peace of mind that her husband would be taken care of. Their actions display the difference between simply providing medical care, and truly caring for those in need.
They exemplified public servitude and deserve to be recognized as employees of the month.
