BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Former Cocoa Tiger and current Ohio State defensive back Cedrick Hawkins transferred to the University of Central Florida.
Hawkins joins a plethora of other Brevard County natives that are on the Knights’ roster including Ladarius Dennison, Jaylen Hayward, DJ Mccormick, and Jarrad Baker to name a few.
The class of 2023 4-star athlete has four years of eligibility after redshirting as a freshman last fall.
Hawkins finished with five tackles during Saturday’s spring game.
Coming out of high school Hawkins chose Ohio State over other big-name programs in the mix such as Florida State, the University of Florida, Georgia Tech, and Penn State, to name a few.
According to 247Sports, he was ranked as the nation’s No. 347 prospect and No. 35 safety in his class.
Hawkins, a 5-foot, 11-inch, 170-pound safety, is related to former Cocoa Tiger and Louisville Cardinal, and current Los Angeles Rams running back Javian Hawkins.
