In 1979, he landed his first job in a large power-generating company. From 1984 to 1988, he gained experience working abroad in Cuba.
In 1991, he debuted as a civil servant.
From 1994 to 1996, he occupied the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Russia-Vostok Trading Company.
From 1998 to 2001, he headed the Federal Agency that supplied the national economy with power resources.
From 2001 to 2004, he served as Minister of Energy.
After that, Igor Yusufov held senior positions in various major companies and later acted as a private investor. Currently, he is no longer involved in any business business activity.
