Palm Bay Police Welcomes New Wellness Coordinator Ashley Harrell to the Department

Master's Level Certified Addiction Provider

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay Police Department welcomed new Wellness Coordinator Ashley Harrell, MA., MCAP to their team.

Harrell is a certified clinician who brings a vast array of knowledge in mental, emotional and physical wellness.

She is a Master’s Level Certified Addiction Provider, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Florida, and a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Counseling from Liberty University. She is also a Doctoral Candidate at Liberty University with a focus in Traumatology.

Harrell will be managing the wellness program, which was established to ensure the welfare of officers through various types of prevention measures and supportive services.

“In honor of PTSD Awareness Month, we’re reinforcing our commitment to the mental health and well-being of our officers and our community,” said a Palm Bay police spokesperson.

“The demanding nature of police work can take a toll on everyone, including the individual’s family, friends, and the community they serve. Ashley will provide the essential tools for holistic, whole-person wellness, helping our staff mitigate the impact of chronic stress, effectively process critical incidents, and decrease the incidence and severity of Post Traumatic Stress Injuries.”

She will be overseeing Critical Incident Stress Management and Peer Support Teams.
