BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The Palm Bay Police Department arrested a 13-year-old after the FBI received a tip concerning an alleged mass-casualty incident planned for August.
According to police, the juvenile used TikTok to indicate that he intended to carry out the attack. Investigators also discovered electronic documents on the juvenile’s phone that allegedly expressed a desire to conduct an attack.
The juvenile was arrested on a charge of making written threats to kill or conduct a mass shooting.
Palm Bay Police thanked the person who submitted the tip and encouraged parents to speak regularly with their children, monitor their well-being and remain attentive to potential warning signs.
“Parents, please let this serve as a reminder to have discussions with your children and routinely check in on them and their mental wellbeing,” the department said.
Police emphasized their commitment to protecting children and school administrators and said the department maintains a zero-tolerance approach when investigating threats of violence.
The identity of the juvenile was not released. The allegations remain subject to the juvenile court process.
