BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – On Friday, BCSO took part in the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the brand new Brevard County Emergency Operations Center in Rockledge.
The Brevard County Emergency Operations Center, that until now was housed in an old bunker styled building on Cedar Street in Rockledge, is the most activated EOC in the entire country and this new facility was long overdue.
Also housing the newly developed Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Unified Communication Center that provides dispatch operations for both BCSO and Brevard County Fire Rescue, this freshly constructed facility is the crown jewel of Emergency Operations Centers.
Using the latest in technology, spacing, and resources, the new Brevard County Emergency Operations Center can now house nearly triple the representation from around the county to ensure that every county, municipal, and state component, is working together to protect our citizens in the time of an emergency or critical incident.
Even better, the new Unified Communications Center utilizes the latest in smart technology, GPS mapping software that suggests the closest units available, and even dispatch protocols with computerized pre-programmed prompts that aid the Telecommunicator in gathering and delivering vital information, that without question, will save hundreds of lives each year.
A huge thank you to our County Manager, Frank Abbate for his unwavering support of this new Emergency Operation Center, our County Commissioners and State Legislative members for all they did to make today possible, Ajax Building Company and all of the other contractors and vendors, Alan Moros and our BCSO team members who were involved in this project from the ground floor, and of course, John Scott, our EOC Director and his team for making this new public safety resource a reality.
