BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – What a great day it was celebrating our 11 newest Corrections Deputies, and this was a special day as it was our very first in-house Corrections Academy, in partnership with Eastern Florida State College.

Today, the following amazing men and women were sworn in to start their careers in law enforcement:
Abnerys Avila-Oseguera, Eli Adams, Jacqueline Brockhurst, Cassidy Cater, Levi Kinsey, Michaela Lee, Anna Marroquin, Andrew Meyers, Luis Reynoso, William Sands, and Troy Steur.

The duties of our correctional deputies are more complex and stressful than most believe.

They are called upon to ensure the safety and well-being of inmates who have committed anything from property crimes to murder.

These men and women are also put into what can be seen as counseling roles as they interact with some of our inmates for months at a time.

Their complex role is truly essential to keeping our community safe, and at the same time, can impact an inmates life for the better!

Please join me in congratulating this outstanding group of young professionals as they begin a new chapter in their lives in the field of Corrections, our Career Development Team for their hard work in the hiring process, and the instructors from our Jail Team and EFSC for imparting all of their knowledge and training to these recruits!
