WATCH: Space Coast Sports Hall of Famer Marcus Maye Talks About Signing with the Miami Dolphins

409 tackles, eight interceptions since 2017

WATCH: Former Holy Trinity Tiger and Space Coast Sports Hall of Famer Marcus Maye spoke with media members for the first time since signing with the Miami Dolphins back in June.

MIAMI, FLORIDA – Former Holy Trinity Tiger and Space Coast Sports Hall of Famer Marcus Maye spoke with media members for the first time since signing with the Miami Dolphins back in June.

“I mean just being back in Florida around family Being part of this program is now something that I always dreamed about as a kid just being right here in the backyard. So I’m excited to be here,” when asked about what it meant to be back home.

“So between Fort Lauderdale and Melbourne, all my family’s here. Being a part of this group I mean from the outside looking in, you know, they have a special thing going on,” said Maye.

Maye signed with Miami after being released by the New Orleans in March. During his Saints tenure, he totaled 97 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, and two interceptions.

The former 2017 second-round pick has appeared in 77 games, with 409 tackles, eight interceptions, and 4.5 sacks.

Maye previously played for the New York Jets, as well as the New Orleans Saints. He played college football at Florida. Maye, a native of Melbourne, has been praised for his versatility and was selected first-team All-American by USA Today.

 

Maye played college football at the University of Florida. As a freshman in 2013, he played in 8 games, making 16 tackles and an interception. As a sophomore in 2014, he played 11 games with 62 tackles, 5 passes defended, 2 forced fumbles, and an interception.

As a junior in 2015, Maye played 12 games with 77 tackles, 4 passes defended, 2 forced fumbles, and 2 interceptions. As a senior in 2016, he played 9 games with 50 tackles, a sack, and an interception.

The New York Jets selected Maye in the second round (39th overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft, and placed the franchise tag on Maye on March 9, 2021.

On March 16, 2022, the New Orleans Saints signed Maye to a three-year, $28.5 million contract. In the 2022 season, he appeared in and started in ten games. He finished with 60 total tackles, two passes defended, and one forced fumble.

2018 SPACE COAST SPORTS HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE: Florida Gator Safety Marcus Maye was named first-team All-SEC by Pro Football Focus and earned first-team All-American recognition from USA Today and PFF after the 2015 season. Mayes was a standout four-sport athlete at Holy Trinity and is now with the New York Jets.
