Message from Sheriff Wayne Ivey

BCSO has packed up resources to help with the rescue efforts and will be working with law enforcement and fire/rescue personnel from across the state of Florida to help save lives and re-stabilize the area after this tragic hurricane. (BCSO Image)

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – With Brevard County being blessed and receiving minimal impact from Hurricane Helene and all of our citizens thankfully being safe, myself and numerous members of our team, along with our partners at Brevard County Fire Rescue, and of course Junny, are now headed to Taylor County to assist with search and rescue efforts.

From what we are being told, there’s approximately 80% devastation to the coastal areas in the panhandle with some areas seeing storm surges of roughly 18 feet.

We have packed up resources to help with the rescue efforts and will be working with law enforcement and fire/rescue personnel from across the state of Florida to help save lives and re-stabilize the area after this tragic hurricane.

I want to thank our Chaplain for coming out and blessing all of us before we left this morning to Taylor County.

I could not be more proud of our team for taking on this task again and ask that you keep all of our Deputies, members of BCFR, fellow first responders, and the citizens of this area in your thoughts and prayers.

– Sheriff Wayne Ivey
