BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office held a groundbreaking for a new Animal Services Shelter, marking a significant investment in the care and protection of homeless, abandoned, and lost animals across the county.
Once completed, the new facility will provide a modern, safe, and more efficient environment designed to improve animal care while expanding the county’s ability to house pets awaiting adoption, reunification with their owners, or other essential services.

The upgraded shelter is expected to better serve both the animals in its care and the residents who rely on its services.
Among those attending the ceremony was the SPCA of Brevard, which highlighted the importance of the project and its continued partnership with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office in promoting animal welfare throughout the community.

The organization described the groundbreaking as a major milestone that reflects Brevard County’s ongoing commitment to providing compassionate care and protection for animals.
The SPCA also recognized Sheriff Wayne Ivey for his longstanding support of animal welfare, noting that his leadership has helped make the protection and advocacy of animals a priority within the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
With construction now officially underway, the new Animal Services Shelter represents another step forward in Brevard County’s efforts to improve animal care, expand available services, and create better outcomes for pets in need.
