BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – With only a little over a month to go until the official end of Hurricane Season (Nov.30), the National Hurricane Center is once again keeping close eye on an area of low pressure located over the central tropical Atlantic that is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms.

The system is forecast to move generally westward to west-northwestward and environmental conditions appear favorable for gradual development by the middle to latter part of this week.

A tropical depression could form as the system moves near the Leeward Islands late this week.

The system has a 50-percent chance of forming into a tropical storm in the next 7 days.

Hurricane season ends November 30.
