Retired Palm Bay Police K9 Officer Byron Patrick Passes Away, Also Served as Submariner in the U.S. Navy

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The Palm Bay Police Department announced the passing of retired Police Officer Byron Patrick, who also served our nation in the United States Navy for seven years.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of retired Palm Bay Police Officer Byron Patrick,” said a Palm Bay police spokesperson.
During his time at the Palm Bay Police Department, Officer Patrick served in many capacities including patrol officer, patrol corporal and field training officer – and served as a member of of the department’s Honor Guard.
“After serving as a Submariner in the Navy, Byron dedicated over 20 years to the Palm Bay Police Department, where he made a lasting impact as a Field Training Officer, Corporal, Honor Guard member, and K9 Handler. Byron proudly served alongside K9s Patriot, Jasper, and Behr during his K9 career.”
Officer Patrick’s most significant assignment was being a K9 handler, serving in that role for 17 years. He and his K9 partners were responsible for apprehending several wanted individuals and removing large amounts of drugs from the community.
“His service and dedication to the Navy and the PBPD will always be remembered. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time,” said a Palm Bay police spokesperson.
Officer Patrick retired from the Palm Bay Police Department in November 2021.
