BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Canvassing Board has ordered a recount for the City of West Melbourne Council.

“For a recount to be called, the unofficial returns between candidates are one-half of a percent, and in this case, the difference between two of the candidates is less than one-half of a percent,” said Brevard Supervisor of Elections Tim Bobanic.

The Brevard County Canvassing Board will meet at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, November 13, at the Election Support Center, 525 N. John Rodes Boulevard in Melbourne.

The Board will conduct a machine recount for the City of West Melbourne.

If the machine recount results in a margin of .25% or less, a manual recount will be ordered and will begin upon completion of the machine recount. A manual recount reviews the race’s blanks, overvotes, and undervotes.

The Canvassing Board has allotted Thursday the 14th for the recount to continue, if necessary.

Notice is hereby given that the machine and manual recounts will be conducted in accordance with Florida Statutes 102.141(7) and 102.166 and Florida Administrative Rule 1S-2.031.

The Brevard County Supervisor of Elections office said it is committed to providing exemplary public service to the citizens of Brevard County.

‘It is our intent to provide quality election services to include transparent, yet secure, elections with timely and accurate results,” said Bobanic.
