Florida Tech Panthers Men’s Soccer Lands Six on the CSC Academic All-District Team

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Six Florida Tech Men’s Soccer team members earned a spot on the College Sports Communications Academic All-District team when the organization announced its selections on Tuesday afternoon.
The Panthers are represented on the CSC Academic All-District Team by Iker Bastida, Filippo Fazzi, Jacopo Ghezzi, Mikkel Kvinnesland, Eytor Omarsson, and Jonas Schmitt.
The 2024 Academic All-District® Men’s Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top scholar-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Academic All-District® honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. The first-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.
Bastida, a graduate student, is working on his master’s in business administration. He holds a notable 4.0 cumulative grade point average and has made the team in back-to-back seasons.
A native of Azpeitia, Spain, Bastida posted five shutouts, 52 saves, and a .743 save percentage over 17 games. He posted a career-high seven saves during the regular season to hand Florida Southern a 3-0 shutout loss. Bastida was also named to the All-SSC Second Team for the second straight season.
Fazzi, a graduate, is working towards his degree in accounting and financial forensics, holding a perfect 4.00 cumulative grade point average.
On the pitch, he has started all but one game this season, proving to be an essential piece for the Panther’s lineup. The midfielder tallied a team-leading seven goals and created opportunities with four assists. Three of his seven goals secured the victory for the Panthers. He was named All-SSC First Team for his breakout season.
Ghezzi, a senior, is working towards his degree in electrical engineering. He holds a 3.87 cumulative GPA and is a two-time CSC Academic All-District team member.
The Bergamo, Italy native’s six goals, three game-winners, and two assists helped him earn All-SSC First Team. He was top-10 in the SSC in shots (37), goals (6), and game-winner goals (3).
Kvinnesland, a graduate, is majoring in Business Administration while bolstering a 4.00 GPA.
A native of Stavanger, Norway, and a constant in the Florida Tech defensive lineup, Kvinnesland has appeared in 17 starts this season, helping the Panthers allow the second-fewest goals in the conference.
Omarsson, a sophomore earning his master’s in business administration, holds a 3.53 cumulative GPA.
A forward, Omarsson scored five times in 17 games played and 11 starts. He also compiled two assists, 16 shots, and 14 shots on goals.
Finally, a graduate student, Jonas Schmitt, is earning his master’s in accounting and financial Forensics while holding a perfect 4.00 cumulative GPA.
Another key member of the Panthers’ midfield, Schmitt, scored the opening goal in a 4-2 win over Rollins and added two assists against Palm Beach Atlantic and Tampa.
