BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA—Although Brevard County avoided a direct hit by hurricanes Helene and Milton, many people in the community were impacted by damage, loss of power, and loss of ability to work.
United Way of Brevard has always prioritized urgent needs, and the Board of Directors voted to donate $15,000 from the Restricted Disaster Fund to Second Harvest Food Bank, according to Caron Partridge, President of United Way of Brevard.
This donation also included gifts from two generous United Way donors.
“Timely response is vital when there’s a sudden disruption,” said Partridge. “For every $10 donated to Second Harvest, they can provide 40 meals, which is a total impact of 60,000 meals for people in Brevard.”
The meals will be distributed evenly to North Brevard Charities, the Sharing Center of Central Brevard, and the Salvation Army in Melbourne.
This is another example of how United Way touches those in the community who need help most. With every dollar you give matched threefold, we can respond to urgent needs and uplift those facing tough challenges, such as hunger.
