Bicyclist Dies After Crash on Hibiscus Blvd. in Melbourne

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a bicyclist that happened Thursday near Hibiscus Blvd. and Broadband Dr.
The crash happened at approximately 3:12 p.m. on Thursday when police officers discovered the bicyclist had sustained significant injuries as a result of the crash.
Due to the injuries, the bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
The initial investigation reveals a red Subaru SUV was traveling west on Hibiscus Blvd approaching Broadband Dr.
The bicyclist was riding westbound along Hibiscus Blvd on the sidewalk when they turned south and entered the roadway in front of the Subaru causing the vehicle to strike the bicyclist.
At this time, it does not appear alcohol or drugs were a factor in this crash.
The identity of the bicyclist hasn’t been announced until the next of kin has been properly notified.
