Police Arrest 40-Year-Old Titusville Resident for Hit and Run Crash That Injured Teenager Riding Mini-Motorbike

A suspect has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run traffic crash occurring on December 18 at approximately 8:30 p.m., which resulted in a juvenile sustaining life-threatening injuries. According to police, Joseph Domingo Santiago, 40, of Titusville, was arrested and charged with Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Serious Bodily Injuries (felony), Tampering with Evidence (felony), Driving with a Suspended License with Knowledge (felony), Violation of Probation (misdemeanor), and Resisting an Officer without Violence.

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – A suspect has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run traffic crash occurring on December 18, at approximately 8:30 p.m., which resulted in a juvenile sustaining life-threatening injuries.

According to police, Joseph Domingo Santiago, 40, of Titusville, was arrested and charged with Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Serious Bodily Injuries (felony), Tampering with Evidence (felony), Driving with a Suspended License with Knowledge (felony), Violation of Probation (misdemeanor), and Resisting an Officer without Violence.

“The preliminary investigation has revealed Santiago, driving a 2018 Nissan Altima, struck a juvenile, riding a Coleman mini motorbike, near the intersection of North Singleton Avenue and Wilderness Lane. Santiago did not stop and fled the scene,” said a police spokesperson.

The juvenile was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

According to police, strong investigative leads assisted in identifying and locating the suspected vehicle, which was subsequently seized as evidence.

Santiago was identified as the driver in the crash. He was located at his residence, taken into custody by Titusville police officers, and booked into the Brevard County Jail without bond.

The injured juvenile has not been identified.

This remains an ongoing traffic investigation, and traffic crash investigators will release further details upon its conclusion.
