BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – There is a quote that says, “The easy way to learn is from others mistakes, the hard way to learn is from your own mistakes, and the tragic way is not learning from either.”

More often than not it seems some people aren’t learning from either way.

Yesterday, in the early morning hours, Deputy Brenden Weber was out patrolling the streets of Micco when he observed a vehicle fail to obey a traffic control device.

Deputy Weber conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and observed 3 people inside, one of which was a passenger, Christopher Amoretti.

During the traffic stop, Officer Manning and his K9 partner “Irish” from the Palm Bay Police Department came to assist and do a free air sniff of the vehicle.

Well, I bet you can guess what happened next, our furry friend “Irish” gave a positive alert on the vehicle, which ended up being bad luck for Amoretti as a black box and backpack were located where he was sitting that contained approximately 85 grams of methamphetamine and approximately 18 grams of Fentanyl.

At this point, we think Amoretti knew his luck had run out as he admitted to knowing the drugs were in there and stated that the other persons in the vehicle knew nothing about the drugs.

Ultimately, Amoretti took the ride to Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge for Trafficking in Methamphetamine and Trafficking in Fentanyl where he can now see just how lucky he is at getting a nice cellmate to spend time with.

You know, it’s funny how some people like to learn things the hard way instead of learning from other peoples mistakes, as appears to be the case with Amoretti.

So here is the lesson one more time…if you want to keep up your criminal ways, I suggest you find somewhere else to do it as here in Brevard County, we have zero tolerance for crime, especially when you bring trafficking amounts of poison to our streets.

I want to thank Deputy Weber for another job well done and of course our partners at Palm Bay Police Department for coming to help!! It takes a community to protect a community and all of our law enforcement agencies in Brevard do whatever it takes to keep our county one of the safest places to call home!
