BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay police officers demonstrated quick thinking and heroic action when they rescued a pregnant woman trapped in a submerged car.
The incident occurred as officers responded to reports of downed powerlines in the area.
According to the Palm Bay Police Department, while addressing the powerline situation, officers heard banging noises coming from a nearby canal.
Upon investigation, they discovered a car upside down and submerged in the water, with a pregnant woman inside.
The officers acted immediately, working together to pull the woman to safety.
Their swift actions received praise from former Detective Jamie Copenhaver, who commended their bravery and efficiency in a life-threatening scenario.
Copenhaver also shared critical advice for anyone facing a similar situation: “Stay calm, unbuckle your seatbelt, and use any available tools to escape a sinking car.”
