TAMARAC, FLORIDA — In the early hours of February 16, a tragic incident unfolded in Tamarac. During the investigation, it was determined that 4-year-old Seraphina Gingles was missing from the residence, leading to the issuance of a statewide AMBER Alert.
At approximately 6:02 a.m., Broward County Regional Communications received reports of a shooting in the 5700 block of Plum Bay Parkway. Upon arrival, Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies discovered an adult male with a fatal gunshot wound.
Authorities believed Seraphina was taken by 43-year-old Nathan Gingles, possibly accompanied by her mother, 34-year-old Mary Catherine Gingles. The trio was thought to be traveling in a 2016 silver BMW X3 with Texas license plate 5DV2950, last seen heading eastbound on West Commercial Boulevard in Tamarac.
Shortly before 11 a.m., BSO’s Violence Intervention Proactive Enforcement Response deputies located the suspect vehicle at 7900 West McNab Road in North Lauderdale. Both Seraphina and Nathan were found, and the AMBER Alert was subsequently canceled.
Seraphina was confirmed safe. Later, authorities discovered Mary Catherine Gingles inside a home in the 5800 block of Plum Bay Parkway, suffering from a gunshot wound; she was pronounced deceased at the scene. Nathan Gingles was arrested for violating an injunction prohibiting contact with the child and her mother.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
