BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA—Eastern Florida State College’s Dental Assisting Program will host an Open House on Tuesday, March 4, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the EFSC Cocoa Campus in Bldg. 20, Rm. 104.
The Cocoa Campus is located at 1519 Clearlake Road.
Attendees will learn more about the program, interact with faculty and advisors, and observe a short, hands-on demonstration.
The registration deadline for the 14-month day program is April 8. The Registration deadline for the 16-month hybrid program with online courses and evening on-campus labs is July 8.

Eastern Florida State College (EFSC) offers a comprehensive Dental Assisting program designed to equip students with the necessary skills for a successful career in the dental field. The program is structured to provide both theoretical knowledge and practical experience, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for various roles within dental practices.
Program Options:
Daytime Program: This 14-month program primarily features face-to-face daytime classes and labs on the Cocoa Campus, supplemented by some online courses and evening labs.
Evening/Outreach Program: Spanning 16 months, this hybrid program combines online coursework with on-campus evening labs, typically held twice a week from 6 PM to 10 PM. In the latter stages, students are required to attend clinical sessions during weekdays.
Curriculum Highlights:
The Dental Assisting program covers a wide range of topics, including:
Dental radiography
Dental materials
Chair-side assisting
Infection control
Dental office management
Students gain hands-on experience in EFSC’s on-campus dental clinic, which also serves the community by offering reduced-price services.
Accreditation and Certification:
The program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association. Graduates receive an Applied Technology Diploma and a “Certificate of Expanded Functions,” qualifying them to work as dental assistants in Florida.
Admission Criteria:
High school diploma or GED
Minimum GPA of 2.0
Completion of prerequisite courses: Introduction to Healthcare and Survey of Human Anatomy and Physiology (or Anatomy and Physiology I & II)
Applicants must be at least 18 years old by specified program dates
Application Deadlines:
Daytime Program: April 8 (classes commence in May)
Evening/Outreach Program: July 8 (classes begin in August)
For those aiming to advance their careers, EFSC offers an Associate in Science (A.S.) degree in Dental Assisting Technology and Management. Graduates of the Dental Assisting program can transfer up to 50 credits toward this degree.
