Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex Hosted Record-Breaking 8th Space Race

Raised $100,000 for United Way of Brevard
Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex celebrated its 8th annual Space Race, a charitable 3K event benefiting the United Way of Brevard County, with unprecedented success. BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex celebrated its 8th annual Space Race, a charitable 3K event benefiting the United Way of Brevard County, with unprecedented success.
This year’s race saw a record-breaking 1,500 participants and raised more than $100,000, including matching funds from Delaware North, which operates the visitor complex.
“The Space Race has become a beloved tradition for local residents and space enthusiasts,” said Therrin Protze, chief operating officer of Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.
“It gives participants a new perspective on the experiences and artifacts we have at the visitor complex. Supporting our local community is at the heart of everything we do, so we’re thrilled about this year’s incredible turnout. This event showcases our dedication, as an organization, to giving back to our community.”

The Space Race is just one example of how Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex contributes to the local community. Additional initiatives include:
Salute to Brevard: An annual event offering discounted admission for Brevard County residents while supporting local nonprofits.
Ticket Donations: The visitor complex donates tickets to Florida-based schools, churches, charities, and other organizations to aid fundraising efforts.
Partnerships: The visitor complex partners with organizations like Make-A-Wish® to create bucket list experiences for their Make-A-Wish families.
In the last year, Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex and its guests provided 9,000 pounds of donated food to the Sharing Centers in Central Florida and employees donated more than $180,000 to local causes.
