Melbourne Police Identify Fatal Crash Victim, Traffic Homicide Investigation is Now Underway

Police identify 79-year-old Roy George Pierce of Melbourne as fatal crash victim

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — A Melbourne police spokesperson identified the victim of a single-vehicle crash in the early hours of Tuesday as 79-year-old Roy George Pierce of Melbourne.

Melbourne police officers were called to Stack Boulevard, near Lake Waterford Way, regarding a single-vehicle crash at approximately 5:52 a.m. February 4.

“Upon arrival, a 2025 Chevrolet SUV was located in a retention pond,” said a Melbourne police spokesperson.

“The driver and sole occupant was removed from the vehicle and transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.”

According to police, the initial investigation revealed that the Chevrolet was traveling south on Stack Boulevard and had left the roadway.

“The vehicle drove through some shrubbery and ended up in the retention pond,” said a Melbourne police spokesperson. “At this time, it does not appear alcohol or drugs were a factor in this crash. The crash is under investigation.”

The Traffic Enforcement Unit is investigating this crash as a Traffic Homicide Investigation.
