Case is Lead Mechanic at IRCC

BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – Donal Case has been named the 2025 Employee of the Year for Indian River Colony Club, the Viera 55+ golf community for military veterans.
An employee since 2021, Case was recognized during the community’s December membership meeting and presented with a $500 monetary award.
Case is the Lead Mechanic at Indian River Colony Club, with the primary duty of maintaining equipment for the 18-hole golf course and all other mechanical equipment used to support the nearly 800-home neighborhood.
The 54-year-old resident of Port St. John has an associate’s degree in Auto & Diesel Technology and holds a Master ASE & Specialty accreditation, the highest level of Automotive Service Excellence certification.
The Employee of the Year award is sponsored each year by the not-for-profit Indian River Colony Club Foundation.
The purpose of the IRCC Foundation is to provide grants for educational, medical, emergency, and other charitable purposes to employees and residents of IRCC and to organizations that assist individuals who are current or former members of the Uniformed Services of the United States.
Nominating Case for Employee of the Year was Gene Stys, Golf Course Superintendent for Indian River Colony Club, along with Dennis Rohne, Residential Manager.
“Donal is not just a ‘parts-changer,’ but a true mechanic in every sense of the word,” said Rohne.
“He welds, designs, constructs, and invents solutions to ANY problem that stops or slows the work at IRCC. After hours, Donal often works on private vehicles for staff and residents —going so far as to complete motor replacements. Donal never has a bad day. His pleasant demeanor, tireless energy, and do-the-right-thing mentality make him an instant friend the first time someone meets him. This outstanding staff member truly deserves being recognized as Employee of the Year.”
Indian River Colony Club employees who have been awarded Employee of the Quarter throughout the year in their respective departments are eligible for the annual award.
Department managers each nominate an exceptional team member from that pool, then cast votes for the most exemplary employee. The community staff number 119, providing maintenance, administration, and hospitality/culinary services for the Viera neighborhood of nearly 800 homes.
Viera’s very first neighborhood, Indian River Colony Club, is known as The Place Patriots Call Home.
A haven for military veterans, the par-72 private golf course community has a patriotic culture and country club amenities for active adults aged 55 and over.
The Indian River Colony Club was initially conceived as a retirement destination for former military officers.
IRCC began to take shape in 1986, with a vision to create a private, country-club-like environment for members. Still predominantly a haven for military veterans, IRCC maintains a culture centered on service to others.
IRCC is a gated golf course community of nearly 800 homes on 453 acres in Viera, owned entirely by its membership.
Social memberships are available for those who live off-site but wish to enjoy the amenities and lifestyle. The patriotic neighborhood was named one of the Top 20 Golf Communities in North America by Golf Course Home Network.
