BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay Fire Rescue crews responded to a residential structure fire on Titan Road in the southeast part of the city, just before 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 15.
Palm Bay Fire Rescue officials suspect that an exploding propane tank at the home may have caused the blaze, in which one person suffered burns.
Palm Bay Fire Rescue crews arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from multiple sides of the home.
“Firefighters were faced with challenging conditions, including reports of a person still inside and downed power lines in the yard,” said a PBFR spokesperson.
“Crews initiated an aggressive attack and search and successfully evacuated the structure. The fire was controlled, and the Red Cross was notified to assist the displaced homeowners.”
Officials said the cause of the blaze appears accidental, but an investigation is ongoing.
