City of Cape Canaveral Announces Qualifying Information for Upcoming City Council Election

The official qualifying period for candidates begins at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, August 4, 2025, and closes at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2025.

The City of Cape Canaveral has issued a public notice outlining important details regarding the upcoming special municipal election scheduled for Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

BREVARD COUNTY • CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA — The City of Cape Canaveral has issued a public notice outlining important details regarding the upcoming special municipal election scheduled for Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

The election will determine the members of the City Council who will serve a three-year term, expiring in November 2028.

To be eligible, candidates must have been domiciled within the City of Cape Canaveral for at least one year immediately before qualifying. In addition, all candidates must be registered voters residing within the city limits.

The official qualifying period for candidates begins at noon on Monday, August 4, 2025, and closes at noon on Friday, August 15, 2025.

Qualifying documents must be submitted in person at the City Clerk’s Office, located at Cape Canaveral City Hall, 100 Polk Avenue, Cape Canaveral.

As outlined in Florida Statutes, candidates may not qualify for more than one public office simultaneously.

Current officeholders seeking another municipal office with overlapping terms must submit an irrevocable written resignation at least 10 days before the first day of the qualifying period. Candidates are also required to comply with all applicable state election regulations and financial reporting procedures.
