BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA — Capt. Gus Andersson of Royal Caribbean International was the guest speaker at the recent Propeller Club of Port Canaveral Luncheon.

The Propeller Club is a business network dedicated to the promotion of the maritime industry, commerce, and global trade. The Club hosts monthly public luncheons that feature guest speakers.

Andersson was most recently the Captain of the Utopia of the Seas and is now Assistant Vice President, Port Development at RCI.

He has served as Captain on multiple Royal Caribbean ships since 2011, including being the New Build and Start Up Captain for several of them.

Andersson gave a fascinating talk on his career path, sharing stories of the challenges and successes of being an officer and then a Captain on some of the world’s largest cruise ships.

He noted that one of the challenges was time away from the family, so he is pleased that his new role allows him to spend more time at home here in Brevard County.

The Propeller Club of Port Canaveral helps foster relationships, build communication, and promote collaboration among stakeholders, including the maritime industry, local businesses, and the broader community.

The Club hosts special events, such as the annual Shrimp Feast, the July fireworks dinner, and the annual Christmas Party.
