NASA to Partner with Netflix for New Livestream Service
By Space Coast Daily // July 3, 2025

NASA+ is going to be included within Netflix subscription packages moving forward. NASA+ is currently its own platform, and broadcasts live rocket launches, mission coverage, astronaut spacewalks, and more. Rebecca Sirmons, who is the general manager of NASA+, has released a statement saying that they are committed to inspiring new generations, ensuring that exciting content is only ever a click away.
Interest in Space is On the Rise
Space-themed content has seen a huge rise over the last few years. A lot of this comes down to technological advances, which have fuelled interest. Popular shows, including For All Mankind, which can be viewed on AppleTV+, have also helped to highlight the allure of space. Netflix has also released a docuseries called Countdown: Inspiration4 Mission to Space, which was a huge success. It’s not just television that has contributed to the renewed interest in space, however.

Recent games like Starfield have helped to highlight the vast expanse of space, and the theme has also been explored in iGaming. Online slots like Galactic Streak, Stars Awakening, and Starmada Exiles show space from different perspectives. Entertainment examples like this also go to show how much creativity we have when representing space, with movements like this helping to rocket the interest people have in NASA’s new live-streaming service.
NASA+ was First Launched in 2023
NASA+ was first launched in 2023 as its streaming service. The goal was to make space content accessible. The service is completely free and doesn’t contain ads. You can access it through the NASA app and the NASA website. By teaming up with Netflix, the company hopes to bring a lot of awareness to their work by accessing the global audience that Netflix has to offer.
This new partnership is also going to make more people interested in science and exploration, a sector in which numerous technological advancements are being made. There are also hopes that this is going to help inspire a global audience, but with a more modern approach. Livestream schedules are due to drop shortly, and Netflix is going to be providing continuous updates on this to keep their audience informed of the new launch.
As time goes on, more and more content is going to be added to the platform as well, with the company actively investing in its schedule. The good news, for space fans, is that this is not an exclusive deal. In other words, Netflix is going to be providing a feed from NASA+ and not hosting it solely on their platform.
The service is still going to be available at no extra cost, and you can even access it without ads by going onto the NASA app. Although you will need a Netflix subscription to watch NASA+ through the platform, it just goes to show how the intergalactic world is now more accessible than ever.
