BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — With the new school year underway, Brevard County Sheriff’s K9 mascot Saint is sending out safety reminders for students and parents.

Saint reminds us that if you see something, say something. If you see or hear about a gun, always tell an adult. Know your route to and from school, and important phone numbers. Never talk to, or get into a car with, anyone you don’t know.

School bus safety: Always wait for the bus on the sidewalk. Never walk behind the bus. If you can’t see the bus driver, they can’t see you either. Always stay seated, facing forward, seat belted, and not hanging out of the windows. During emergencies, listen to the bus driver. If you miss the bus, be sure to tell the bus driver, and never get off at the wrong stop.

When riding a bike, always use a helmet and look both ways. Obey traffic signals. Make sure you can hear the road around you. Never carry a rider.

Bullying and drugs have no place in schools.

School resource officers are at your schools to help you.
