BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office has taken decisive action in its long-running effort to dismantle illegal gambling operations, crushing an extensive collection of seized gambling machines in partnership with the Florida Gaming Control Commission.

The destroyed devices represent only a fraction of the equipment confiscated during an 18-month investigation that involved seventeen search warrants and multiple arrests across the county.

Sheriff Wayne Ivey and representatives from the Florida Gaming Control Commission gathered at the demolition site to highlight the significance of the operation. Rows of gambling machines stood behind them, many of which had been removed from tightly controlled and unlawfully operated gaming rooms that required selective access to avoid detection.

According to investigators, the venues generated more than a million dollars in illicit proceeds, much of it unreported and tied to continued violations despite warnings.

Carl Harold of the Florida Gaming Commission emphasized that the illegal machines cause far greater harm than many realize. He noted that the devices are linked to financial destruction, exploitation, and the degradation of communities targeted by unregulated gambling.

Harold encouraged residents who encounter suspicious gaming operations to contact the commission or local law enforcement so the devices can be removed.

Sheriff Ivey reaffirmed the department’s commitment to eliminating illegal gambling in Brevard County. He stated that the operation reflects the agency’s philosophy of confronting crime directly and ensuring that illegal profits and equipment are seized. He also thanked the Florida Gaming Commission for its statewide efforts and recognized local partners, including Goodson Paving and ATM Recycling, for assisting in the destruction of the machines.

The sheriff urged residents to understand that illegal gambling is not a harmless activity, emphasizing that the businesses involved knowingly violate state law while profiting from vulnerable individuals. He noted that the county will continue its aggressive efforts to identify, seize, and dismantle unlawful gambling operations, including removing the machines, taking the money, and holding offenders accountable in the criminal justice system.

The public was reminded that Brevard County remains committed to shutting down any operation that violates the law, and that local and state authorities will continue to work together to protect the community from the negative impacts of illegal gambling enterprises.
