Ballard Park in Melbourne to Close Temporarily for Installation of New Restroom Facilities

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The City of Melbourne has announced that Ballard Park will be closed on Monday, September 22, for the installation of a brand-new restroom facility. This temporary closure marks the latest step in ongoing improvements aimed at enhancing public amenities and comfort for park visitors.

The project follows an electrical maintenance effort that took place earlier in the year. From August 22 to August 26, electricity was temporarily shut off at Ballard Park to support the initial phases of the bathroom construction.

During that time, the park remained open, but lights on the basketball and tennis courts, as well as pavilion outlets, were unavailable. Power was fully restored on August 27.

The restroom installation is part of the City’s broader plan to modernize and maintain its recreational spaces. Melbourne’s Parks, Recreation, and Golf Department remains committed to delivering high-quality, safe, and enriching environments for residents and visitors alike.
