BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Melbourne Police Department will be putting on its second annual Kids Fishing Camp Saturday, October 2. The camp will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ballard Park. Kids of the ages of 5 to 15 will get to enjoy some fun in the sun and fish with an officer.

Officers from the Melbourne Police Department, along with volunteers from businesses throughout the city, will teach the children knot tying, wildlife conservation, tackle box equipment, and casting.

We at the Melbourne Police Department were lucky enough to have a lot of different agencies and companies be involved in this great event.

Melbourne Parks and Recreation, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Fish Florida, and Marine Resource Council are only a few of many different agencies who are involved in making this event a time to remember for the children of the community.

The purpose of the fishing camp is to bring the community together to promote outdoor hobbies, teach kids how to fish safely, and educate the children on the unique ecosystem of the Indian River. Come and join us for community fun and reel in some great memories.

For further information or questions for the event, please contact Christina Brainard and Officer Charles McClure at 321-608-6336.
