Dangerous beach conditions are expected to intensify, with an extreme risk of rip currents

BREVARD COUNTY • FLORIDA –Brevard County Emergency Management issued a community report on Sunday regarding the ongoing developments with Tropical Storm Imelda.
The National Hurricane Center has issued a Tropical Storm Watch for the county, with deteriorating weather conditions expected to persist late Monday into Tuesday morning.
Forecasters warn of squally and gusty winds, widespread thunderstorms, and two to three inches of rainfall across the region.
Dangerous beach conditions are also expected to intensify, with an extreme risk of rip currents and a high surf advisory in effect through Wednesday. Officials strongly urge residents and visitors to avoid entering the water or walking along the shoreline during this period.
Emergency management officials are reminding the public to take sensible precautions before the storm arrives. Residents are asked not to trim trees or bushes and to avoid leaving debris near storm drains.
Instead, yard debris should be placed in containers, and loose items such as Halloween decorations, toys, lawn furniture, and sports equipment should be secured. Officials also recommend completing errands and preparedness tasks before Monday, as conditions are expected to worsen quickly.
County leaders emphasize that early preparation and caution will help reduce risks as Tropical Storm Imelda continues to move closer to Florida’s east coast.
