Eastern Florida State College Athletes Receive Awards for Performance

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida State College athletes are receiving award amidst the season of many different sporting divisions.

Men’s golfer Jamie Smith named the FCSAA Male Golfer of the Month

The freshman kicked off his collegiate career with an individual victory at the Wallace State Kickoff Classic as the Titans finished second in the first tournament of the season.

Smith shot one of the best rounds in Titans history in his first round as a Titan, firing a 7-under 65. He followed that up with a 76 to claim the title.

At the Keiser Seahawk Shootout, Smith shot rounds of even par and 66 on the first day, finishing with a 79 in the final round to place tied for seventh overall.

The Titans won the team title.

Smith and the Titans will travel to Cullman, Alabama for the Dan York Memorial on Nov. 3-4.

Eastern Florida State College women’s golfer Ann Burel named the FCSAA Women’s Golfer of the Month.

The sophomore from Orlando has been the medalist in two events this fall season and finished in the top 10 in all three events this fall.

Burel opened the fall season by winning the SSC Fall Warm Up, shooting rounds of 1-under and even par. Burel helped the Titans finish fifth in the tournament.

At the Hooves at the Highlands tournament in Alabama Burel shot even par in both rounds to capture her second win of the season. That win helped the Titans capture the team title.

At the Battle @ Black Diamond event in Lecanto, Burel shot a 77 in the first round and was 2-under in the second round when play was suspended, cutting the tournament short.

It is the first Player of the Month honor for Burel.

Burel and the women’s golf team will wrap up the fall season at the Flagler Fall Slam on Oct. 27-28.

Eastern Florida State College women’s soccer player Avery Bracher named FCSAA Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 6.

It is the second time this season that Bracher has been named the FCSAA Player of the Week.

Bracher began the week by scoring the game winning goal in the second half as the Titans defeated No. 11 Monroe Community College 3-2 in New York. Then on Sunday Bracher scored two more times in the Titans 4-1 win.

Bracher leads the state with 10 goals this season.

Eastern Florida State College, who is ranked 19th in the latest NJCAA Division I poll, will be home Wednesday night against Polk State College. The game will begin at 7 p.m. at Orlando Health Stadium and admission is free. Fans can also watch the game live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
