Melbourne Detectives Nab Perp Linked to Twin Convenience Store Robberies

Melbourne police: Robert Dale Corson III confessed to both robberies

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — Melbourne police have arrested a suspect in connection with two armed robberies that occurred last week at separate 7-Eleven convenience stores in the city.

After following leads obtained through investigative means and social media, police identified Robert Dale Corson III as a suspect, who later confessed to the crimes.

According to Sergeant Benjamin Slover, the first robbery happened around 3:45 a.m. on October 9 at the 7-Eleven located at 1268 Aurora Road.

Investigators said a white male entered the store wearing a black mask, demanded cash from the clerk, and fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

Later that night, at approximately 11:55 p.m., a similar robbery occurred at the 7-Eleven at 220 W. New Haven Avenue. In that incident, a masked white male again demanded cash before leaving the scene in an unknown direction.

Detectives initially investigated whether the two robberies were related.

Corson was located, interviewed by detectives, and later confessed to both robberies, police said. He was subsequently charged and booked into the Brevard County Jail without incident.

Corson faces charges in both cases, including Robbery with a weapon (two counts), Destruction of evidence, and Violation of probation.
