Officer Nearly Hit During Wild High-Speed Melbourne Police Chase

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – A Palm Bay woman faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after Melbourne police say she led them on a dangerous, high-speed pursuit through city streets late Thursday night before her vehicle was disabled and she was taken into custody.
According to Melbourne police, the incident unfolded shortly after 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4, when officers attempted to stop a 2025 Kia being driven by 29-year-old Pamela Roberson on Lipscomb Street.
Police said Roberson did not comply and instead sped away, triggering a multi-agency pursuit involving Melbourne and West Melbourne officers.
Authorities reported the chase continued through several heavily traveled roadways, including Babcock Street, NASA Boulevard, and U.S. 192.
Investigators say Roberson reached speeds of nearly 90 miles per hour along Dairy Road as she weaved through traffic and ignored police commands to pull over.
During the chase, police said Roberson nearly struck an officer who was attempting to assist with the stop along U.S. 192, prompting officers to deploy stop sticks in an effort to bring the pursuit to a safe end.
The deflation devices successfully disabled the vehicle, and Roberson was stopped a short distance away. No injuries were reported, and Roberson was then taken into custody.
Roberson was charged with fleeing and eluding law enforcement with lights and sirens activated, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, and leaving the scene of a crash.
She was booked into the Brevard County Jail, where she was held on no bond.
