BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey has issued an update following the arrest of Freddie Underwood on charges of felony animal cruelty and unlawful discharge of a firearm.

The arrest stems from an incident in which a cat was allegedly shot after it “messed with his car.”

In a video posted today on the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office official Facebook page, Sheriff Ivey reiterated the seriousness with which his office is treating the case.

Underwood is being held without bond following his arrest.

His court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, December 23, at 1:30 p.m.

Sheriff Ivey emphasized that charges of this nature will be vigorously pursued, reflecting the community’s concern for animal welfare and public safety.

Neighbors and animal advocates have responded strongly to the case, particularly given that the cat survived the shooting with help from a concerned resident.
