BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Jean Dorothy Coughlin Theroux, of Melbourne, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, at the age of 77.
Born on December 19, 1948, in Columbia to John Coughlin and Blanche Chalifoux, Jean lived a remarkable life marked by dedication, compassion, and service to others.
After graduating from Windham High School in 1966, Jean began a distinguished career with Pratt & Whitney as a Procurement Specialist.
Throughout her 45-year career, she became known as a trusted mentor and inspiring leader who welcomed new employees, guided them through their careers, and helped countless colleagues succeed.
Her professionalism, kindness, and willingness to share her knowledge earned the respect and admiration of those who worked alongside her.
She retired after 45 years of dedicated service.
Jean is survived by her longtime partner, Thomas Hamilton; her daughter and son-in-law, Kerri Lyn Coughlin Moore and Benjamin Moore; her sister, Chris Coughlin Field; her brother-in-law, Rick Field; and her nephew, Andy Field.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Jean devoted much of her life to volunteer service.
During both her working years and retirement, she dedicated her time to food pantries, local shelters, and community outreach programs.
She helped deliver food to those in need, assisted with children’s programs, and supported youth development through her work with the Police Explorers program.
Friends and family remember Jean for her generous spirit, positive outlook on life, and unwavering willingness to help others.
Whether offering guidance to a coworker, volunteering in the community, or supporting loved ones, she consistently placed others’ needs before her own.
In keeping with her wishes, Jean will be cremated and memorialized by planting a tree, symbolizing a life rooted in love and service.
Her family hopes the tree will stand as a living tribute to a life well-lived and a soul deeply loved, continuing to bring beauty into the world for years to come.
Jean’s family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Holmes Regional Medical Center and hospice staff for the compassionate, respectful, and supportive care they provided during her final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Second Harvest Food Bank in Jean’s memory.
