BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Dry conditions across Brevard County have significantly increased the risk of wildfires, prompting local officials to take immediate action.

On Tuesday, February 10, the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously to implement a countywide burn ban, effective now.

County leaders said the decision was made in response to heightened fire risk due to ongoing dry weather. Officials warned that under current conditions, even a single spark could quickly ignite and spread, threatening homes, property, and natural resources.

The burn ban prohibits bonfires, campfires, trash burning, and open outdoor incineration throughout the county. However, certain activities are exempt from the order.

State-authorized prescribed burns may continue, as well as the use of barbecue grills. Permitted public fireworks displays and sales allowed under state law are also not affected by the ban.

Officials are urging residents to remain vigilant and exercise caution during this period of increased wildfire risk. They emphasized the importance of protecting homes, neighbors, and the broader community until conditions improve.
