BREVARD COUNTY • CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – United Launch Alliance’s Atlas V rocket is scheduled to lift off early Sunday carrying another group of broadband satellites for Amazon’s low-Earth orbit constellation.
The launch is targeted for March 29 at 3:53 a.m. EDT, with the mission designated Amazon LEO 5.
The Atlas V will deploy a new batch of satellites designed to expand Amazon’s growing internet network in low Earth orbit.
The constellation, which is expected to include more than 3,000 satellites, aims to provide fast, reliable broadband service worldwide, particularly in unserved and underserved communities.
The mission is part of Amazon’s broader effort to build out its satellite-based internet system, increasing global connectivity and competing in the rapidly expanding commercial space communications sector.
Additional details, including viewing opportunities and weather forecasts, are expected to be released closer to launch.
