BREVARD COUNTY • SATELLITE BEACH, FLORIDA – Music lovers on Florida’s Space Coast will soon have the opportunity to experience one of the most celebrated musicals in American theater when the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra presents a special concert version of Carousel on March 21.
The performance, titled Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel: A Concert, will take place at 7 p.m. at the Satellite High School Performing Arts Center, located at 300 Scorpion Court in Satellite Beach.
The production will feature ten professional singers from Central Florida theaters, repertory companies, and theme parks performing some of the musical’s most beloved songs.
Tickets for the concert are available for $35 through the orchestra’s website or at Marine Bank and Trust in Suntree, with tickets at the door priced at $40.
Admission is free for concertgoers aged 18 and under, as well as college students with a valid ID.

Among the cherished numbers audiences can expect to hear are “If I Loved You” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” both written by legendary composers Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. In addition to the soloists, 15 members of Brevard County’s Indialantic Chamber Singers will join the performance, lending their voices to energetic ensemble pieces including “June Is Bustin’ Out All Over” and “This Was a Real Nice Clambake.”
The symphonic concert tells the emotional story set in a seaside town in Maine, following carousel barker Billy Bigelow, portrayed by Andrew LeJeune, and mill worker Julie Jordan, played by Kate Stenzel Whitworth. Their relationship unfolds through themes of love, hardship, redemption, and second chances in a narrative that continues to resonate with audiences decades after its debut.
Originally premiering on Broadway in 1945 after the success of Oklahoma!, Carousel quickly became one of the most acclaimed musicals of the 20th century. The production was later adapted into a 1956 film starring Shirley Jones and Gordon MacRae. Time magazine once named it the greatest musical of the 20th century, and Rodgers himself considered it his favorite collaboration with Hammerstein.
For this concert presentation, the orchestra’s conductor and artistic director, Aaron T. Collins, assembled singers and musicians from across the region to bring the music to life in a full symphonic format.

Collins said the performance will showcase the emotional power of the score without elaborate staging. He noted that the singers involved are exceptionally talented and pour their hearts into each song, allowing the music and voices alone to carry the story.
The Space Coast Symphony Orchestra, founded by Collins, is one of only a handful of orchestras in the United States that perform year-round. The Central Florida ensemble comprises professional musicians and music educators from across the state and is known for its mission to make high-quality symphonic music accessible to the community through affordable ticket programs and educational initiatives.
