Cocoa Police to Host ‘Gun Buy Back’ Event on Friday, June 5

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – The Cocoa Police Department, in partnership with the Rockledge Police Department and The Real Church, will host a Gun Buy Back event on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Save A Lot Plaza located at 1208 Dixon Boulevard in Cocoa.
The initiative is designed to reduce the opportunity for firearms to end up in the wrong hands and help reduce gun violence within the community.
Participants may voluntarily surrender unwanted firearms with no questions asked.
Individuals turning in firearms will receive a $50 gift card per firearm, with a limit of two gift cards per person.
To ensure safety and efficiency during the event, all firearms must be properly secured in the trunk of the vehicle prior to arrival. Law enforcement officers will retrieve all firearms directly from the vehicle. Participants are asked to remain inside their vehicles at all times and follow the instructions of officers directing traffic through the venue.
The event is completely anonymous.
No identification, background checks, or personal information will be required.
The following items will NOT be accepted:
• BB guns
• Paintball guns
• Airsoft guns
• Other non-firearm type weapons
The Cocoa Police Department, Rockledge Police Department, and The Real Church encourage community members to take advantage of this safe and simple opportunity to surrender unwanted firearms.
