Isolated Thunderstorms, Dangerous Heat Risk in Forecast for Brevard County on Sunday

30% chance of rain in Titusville today

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County can expect another hot and humid day Sunday, with isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms developing throughout the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Melbourne.

Rain chances along the Space Coast remain relatively low compared to inland areas, with a 30% chance of rain in Titusville and Vero Beach and a 20% chance in Melbourne and Daytona Beach.

Forecasters say the best opportunities for thunderstorms will be across the interior portions of east-central Florida.

Any storms that do develop could become strong, producing frequent lightning, wind gusts up to 50 mph, heavy downpours and localized flooding.

Temperatures are expected to climb into the lower 90s across Brevard County, with highs reaching around 90 degrees in Melbourne and near 91 degrees in southern portions of east-central Florida.

However, the combination of heat and humidity will make it feel much hotter, with heat index values ranging from 100 to 107 degrees.

The National Weather Service has also issued a widespread Major HeatRisk for the region, indicating an increased risk of heat-related illnesses, particularly for those spending extended periods outdoors.

Beachgoers are urged to exercise caution as a moderate risk of rip currents remains in place at all east-central Florida beaches. Swimmers are encouraged to stay near lifeguards and avoid entering the ocean alone.
