BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a Special Marine Warning for portions of the Atlantic coastal waters from the Volusia-Brevard County line south to Jupiter Inlet through 2:30 p.m. EDT Monday.

The warning includes the nearshore waters from the Volusia-Brevard County line to Sebastian Inlet (0-20 nautical miles offshore), Sebastian Inlet to Jupiter Inlet (0-20 nautical miles offshore), and the offshore waters from Sebastian Inlet to Jupiter Inlet (20-60 nautical miles offshore).

Forecasters warn that strong thunderstorms moving across the coastal waters are capable of producing wind gusts greater than 34 knots, creating hazardous conditions for boaters.

The storms may also generate steep and dangerous waves, making navigation difficult for vessels in the affected areas.

No hail or waterspouts are currently expected; however, mariners are urged to take immediate precautions and seek safe harbor if possible.

Boaters and anyone planning to be on the water should closely monitor weather conditions.
