BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – I often tell people that I am surrounded by an amazing team of men and women and that my greatest leadership quality is getting out of their way, and today’s post is another perfect example of just how true that statement really is.
Today was the Brevard County Association of Chiefs of Police annual luncheon that honors “Of The Year” awards throughout Brevard for amazing work within each field.
This year our agency nominated Madison Herold for Telecommunicator of the Year.
Madison has worked with our agency since 2022 and has become an exceptional Communications Training Officer, truly redefining the standards and role of our Telecommunications Team.
During one extraordinary shift, while training a new Telecommunicator, Madison managed responses to three different trauma alerts, two different air medical services, and a rollover crash with 7 victims, including a juvenile who was ejected and initially missing.
Not only did Madison get the job done, but she did it efficiently while coordinating the response of multiple outside agencies, arranging four separate helicopters, and managing units operating outside of normal response areas.
She didn’t just manage the chaos; she used it as a master class for her trainee, explaining every life-saving decision in real time under extremely stressful and life-changing circumstances.
Madison’s calm demeanor, dedication to training, and ability to manage high-pressure situations with poise have made a lasting impact on both her team and our community, as she continuously exemplifies the highest standards of a Public Safety Telecommunicator!
Madison is also seen as a mentor and leader, as her focus is always on the growth of her team.
Well, today I am proud to tell you that Madison was honored as she was recognized as the Brevard County Association of Chiefs of Police 2025 Telecommunicator of the Year.
Our team and I could not be more proud of Madison for her dedication to the profession, our agency and our community.
Her incredible work is truly changing and saving lives each and every day.
I would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge Telecommunicator Victoria Emory who was also nominated for this award.
While Victoria now works for our agency, she was nominated by Indialantic Police Department as she was employed with them for the 2025 year.
These voices on the other end of the phone are the first thing someone hears in their time of crisis, and the work they do deserves all of the recognition in the world.
They are the true life line of our citizens and our community’s first responders.
