BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – More than 400 students returned to Challenger 7 Elementary School on Monday, July 20, 2026, becoming the first students in Brevard Public Schools to begin the 2026–27 school year.
The excitement started before the first bell as Brevard County Fire Department crews made a special appearance to welcome students back to campus.
Members of the Space Coast Jr./Sr. High School cheer team also lined the entrance, cheering on students and helping create a memorable start to the new school year.
As BPS’ only modified-calendar school, Challenger 7 begins classes several weeks ahead of the rest of the district. Students arrived eager to reconnect with friends, meet their teachers, and begin a new year of learning and discovery.
This year also marks the beginning of a new chapter under Principal Danielle Kraus.
With the theme “Sailing Into Success,” the school is encouraging students to chart a course toward growth, achievement, and lifelong learning.
Superintendent Dr. Mark Rendell and School Board Vice Chair Megan Wright joined students, families, and staff in celebrating the start of the school year, welcoming students as they embarked on another year of academic success.
