Heat Advisory in Effect for Northern Brevard County as Dangerous Heat, Afternoon Storms Return
Residents in northern Brevard County should prepare for another day of dangerous heat and increasing afternoon thunderstorms as hot, humid conditions continue across the Space Coast.
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Residents in northern Brevard County should prepare for another day of dangerous heat and increasing afternoon thunderstorms as hot, humid conditions continue across the Space Coast.
The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a Heat Advisory from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday for northern Brevard County, where heat index values are expected to reach 105 to 109 degrees.
Afternoon temperatures will climb into the low to mid-90s, but high humidity will make it feel significantly hotter.
Forecasters say isolated showers and thunderstorms may develop during the morning before becoming more widespread across Brevard County during the afternoon and evening.
Some storms could produce frequent lightning, heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and localized flooding.
Residents planning to spend time outdoors are urged to take extra precautions during the hottest part of the day by staying hydrated, wearing lightweight clothing, and taking frequent breaks in air-conditioned buildings or shaded areas.
The National Weather Service also reminds residents to never leave children or pets unattended inside vehicles, where temperatures can become deadly within minutes.
While scattered thunderstorms may offer brief relief from the heat later in the day, dangerous heat and humidity will remain the primary weather concern for northern Brevard County through this evening.
